Professionalism in IT

What is e-skills UK's role ?

Within the Prof IT alliance, e-skills UK is leading on the skills agenda. Our specific objectives are:

  1. To establish a common language to describe skills and roles, understood by employers of all industries and internationally. This will enable external recognition of employees' skills.
  2. To 'make sense' of training provision for employers. We will support development and progression routes for IT professionals, endorsing and signposting high-quality, fit-for-purpose provision. This will encompass public, private and employer provision as appropriate.

In particular, e-skills UK will focus establishing a fast-track 'critical skills' programme for new recruits into the sector - to accelerate development in the period between graduation and ten years into the profession. This will address challenges arising from the changing global environment; building customer-focused, business-knowledgeable individuals who can contribute to the UK economy from an earlier point in their career.
