Professionalism in IT

Oct-Nov 06 Workshops

The role of the IT professional in business is changing beyond recognition. Trends such as globalisation, outsourcing, changing customer demands and the embedding of technology across all business operations are having a far reaching impact on the knowledge, skills and attributes required of IT professionals.

In Oct and Nov 06, we ran a series of employers workshops to share best practice and help us prioritise and shape a number of potential programmes for IT professionals. These initiatives include fast-tracking early career development for IT professionals; establishing a common language for skills; and making sense of training provision to ensure it meets employer needs.

A report is now available pulling together the views expressed by employers at the workshops. You can download it below:

We have now also published the IT Professional Competency Model – a new, sector-wide approach to expressing IT professional capabilities.
