Complete Computer Systems, Leeds (pdf file) - A micro business who recommend and sell software, build PCs and build and install servers and telephone systems. 2 of their 5 employees are apprentices

Active Communications, Coventry (pdf file) - Active Communications is a small but very successful networking company, based in Coventry that has undertaken such prestigious jobs as installing security cameras at Coventry Airport.

Aktiv Kapital, Chester (pdf file) - Jamie Roberts was last year publicly recognised as one of the best apprentices in the North West of the UK when he won the Business Services category of the Total People Limited annual Apprentice of the Year competition. Jamie works in IT support for Aktiv Kapital (UK) Ltd which is part of the Aktiv Kapital ASA financial services Group based in Chester.

EDS, Hook (pdf file) - Andrew Pattenden is now a 28 year old Project Leader with EDS working on a government contract. He joined the company when he was just 20 (having applied for the position at 19) as an IT Professional Apprentice.

JCB, Rocester (pdf file) - Joe works as an apprentice in Rocester as a PC Support Technician and is undertaking a NVQ level 3 and a Foundation Degree in IT. Joe expects to progress to a full honours degree whilst at the same time he’s impressing managers so much that his career’s on fast forward.

Orange, Bristol (pdf file) - Orange was launched in 1994 to offer a broad range of voice and data communication services. Orange recruit apprentices nationwide in Delivery Performance (4 year scheme) and Central Operations (22 month scheme)

St Thomas More School, Newcastle (pdf file) - This school in the North East were so impressed with Sam Smails and Michael Thompson when they came to them as work placement students that they took them both on as apprentices

REDNET (pdf file) - REDNET are a Business to Business ISP with approximately 50 members of staff. Most Apprentices join them as Level 2 Apprentices and then progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship. If the apprentice has the ambition and capability REDNET will encourage progression to studying for a part time degree

George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton (pdf file) - Alec gives IT support to the Post Graduate Education Centre, ensuring that those delivering education to the doctors can use the equipment. He has also made the induction process for new doctors more interesting by designing an interactive CD, which was commended by the Royal College and West Midlands Deanery as “excellent induction documents.”
