e-skills UK in Northern Ireland

Our programmes

e-skills UK's activities in Northern Ireland include the following programmes:

Business IT Guide

The Business IT Guide is an e-skills UK online tool to help small businesses in using ICT to improve efficiency and productivity. For more information, download the NI factsheet (PDF).

Careers information

e-skills UK does not offer one-to-one careers advice, but we have developed a Careers website for advisors which provides a useful point-of-reference for information on career opportunities and on the skills required for a career in IT and Telecoms.

In addition, in April 2009, e-skills UK launched a campaign that gives teenagers in Northern Ireland an insider view of technology careers. The BringITon website is designed to inspire and attract 14-19 year olds towards education and careers in IT. The site has been developed as part of the Future Skills Action Plan for ICT, in conjunction with the Department of Employment and Learning, Invest NI and Momentum.

CC4G

Over the last 4 years, this award winning initiative has benefited over 1,009 girls and 47 schools in NI. The Next Generation CC4G has expanded to cover boys and families, with over 12 new schools actively using the new learning content. CC4G is full of fun activities which get students involved and excited about technology in ways that interest them, e.g. through music and fashion.

ITQ

ITQ is the National Vocational Qualification for IT users overseen by e-skills UK. ITQ is a unique, flexible training and qualification programme which demonstrates staff competence in the use of IT. ITQ achievements can be recorded on an e-skills Passport, which is the online IT user skills management tool developed by e-skills UK.
