Standards, frameworks and qualifications

As the Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology, we are responsible for articulating and maintaining the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and the Qualifications Structures (such as SVQs and Apprenticeships) for IT and Telecoms.

The e-skills NOS detail the range of discrete areas of competence needed to describe the diverse job roles in the IT and Telecoms industries, and IT professional jobs in other sectors. The e-skills NOS also include the discrete areas of competence needed by IT users in all sectors of industry.

NB - Please be aware that the new NOS for IT Users have now been approved for use with effect from March 2009 and that the new ITQ (SVQ for IT Users) should be widely available from August 2009 onwards.
