Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) for IT Diploma

Purpose and objectives

The Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) Steering Group brings together representatives of the key stakeholders on whose collective action the Diploma depends. It will operate as a team which helps to help ensure the success of the Diploma. In particular, it will:

  • Offers strategic guidance and support to the project team
  • Contributes expertise and provide access to relevant networks in support of Diploma development
  • Brings together a collective view across multiple stakeholder communities
  • Endorses key deliverables, including:
    • The Diploma qualifications;
    • Sector specific Gateway and Centre Approval criteria;
    • Plans for delivery, teaching and learning resources and professional development for teaching staff.

The members of the DDP Steering Group will also:

  • Provide insight into and moderation of the views of the communities they represent;
  • Support communications and promotional activities.

Context

Specialised Diplomas are at the heart of the government's 14-19 reform strategy. The intention is that Diplomas in 14 'lines of learning' become a national entitlement by 2015.

The development of each Diploma is led by a Diploma Development Partnership, which is convened by a Sector Skills Council - e-skills UK in the case of the IT line of learning.

The DDP for the IT line of learning receives input from the Employers Steering Group and the Awarding Body Forum.
