Industry Education Action Group
Purpose and objectives
The purpose of the Industry Education Action Group is to harness some of the educational activities carried out by IT and Telecoms employers, learn from them, and provide best practice and knowledge across a variety of e-skills UK projects to ensure maximum impact and success across each program.
Context
Many employers work directly with education today: forming programs, qualifications and accreditations that will help students build their knowledge of both technology and readiness for the working world. This activity can range from organisations who have their own Academy programs, where students complete the vendors' own qualifications through the existing educational system to companies who run programs to add 'additional benefit' to the education system today i.e. developing communication skills throughout schools.
The role of the Group is to operate as a collective team to build upon all that great expertise and experience to mutual benefit, and to enable e-skills UK to discuss strategy across several over-lapping requirements in one single team. Particular programs that will be discussed as part of the Group include the IT Diploma, ProfIT (Professionalism in IT) and the Sector Qualification Strategy.
