About the project

26 case studies were written following a research project conducted during 2004 by 5 Sector Skills Councils (ConstructionSkills, Lantra, SEMTA, Skillfast-UK and Skillset in conjunction with e-skills UK which established that many smaller businesses do not take a structured approach to investment in IT and skills development, despite widespread dependence on IT in all areas of business.

The case studies were selected to show relevant, inspiring stories of companies realising business benefit from investment in IT and the skills needed for its use.

The project is one of a suite of projects undertaken to promote IT User skills across the Skills for Business Network.

Sector Skills Councils taking part include:

CITB-ConstructionSkills - construction industry
Lantra - land-based industries
SEMTA - science, engineering and manufacturing technologies
Skillfast-UK - apparel, footwear, textiles and related industries
Skillset - audio-visual industries
