Gateway 2 for delivery in 2009

Schools, colleges and other providers wishing to offer the Diploma in 2009 will need to pass through a Gateway process. The central objective of the Gateway is to ensure that, in the early years of a highly innovative qualification, it is delivered successfully and effectively prepares young people for further learning or for entering work.

Gateway 2 will provide support to aspiring centres as they progress through the submission process, helping them to identify whether they are ready to deliver the Diploma in 2009. To do this, institutions will be required to demonstrate that they have plans to prepare for implementation and will need to complete a comprehensive self-assessment in relation to each of the outlined Gateway criteria.

Information regarding the Gateway process, how to apply and the timescales for submission are available from the DCSF at www.dcsf.gov.uk/14-19.

Supplementary material has been produced to support the self-assessment process for those consortia intending to offer the Diploma in IT:
