Industry-led IT user skills framework

e-skills UK, the UK's only independent voice on technology skills, has created an industry-led IT user skills framework for people working with Information Technology. The framework outlines what is required from individuals, in terms of the skills, knowledge and understanding, to complete a range of tasks using technology.

How can the framework clarify and innovate skills development?

The e-skills UK skills framework, which provides the structure for the redevelopment of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for IT users, underpins the development of all qualifications and learning materials focused on using technology - whether at school, home or the office.

Within your organisation, the framework will assist you to:

  • assess and compare the skills of new recruits and existing staff on a like-for-like footing
  • create job descriptions and undertake appraisals;
  • resource new projects or business initiatives;
  • and develop your staff in line with your business needs.

The e-skills UK IT user framework is crucial to ensuring that everyone using technology is trained, assessed and developed against a nationally and industry recognised measure. It is the foundation stone for our programmes which are designed by employers for employers. The UK population's technology skills must be transferable from organisation to organisation and contributes to increasing the UK's level of productivity.
