e-skills UK is dedicated to working in partnership with Welsh employers and key stakeholders to address the IT, Telecoms and Contact Centres skills issues that will have the most significant impact on the success of the Welsh economy.

Employers Forum for Wales

The forum is e-skills UK mechanism for interfacing employers with government in Wales. Its purpose is to:

  • unite employers, educators and government on a common employer-led skills agenda for action in Wales
  • influence Government funding agencies on skills related issues
  • represent the educational needs and skills development needs of employers.

The forum currently comprises 12 company representatives from IT, telecoms, and those that have a specific interest in IT user skills and can represent the breadth of interest in our sector - they are Alcatel-Lucent, BT, Cardiff Financial Partnership, Draig Technology, EADS DS, EDS, Fujitsu, General Dynamics, Microsoft, Mitel, NLIAH (Representing NHS Wales) and Tata.

Background information

Our action in Wales is guided by the SSA for IT Action Plan for Wales which was created and published in July 05 to unite employers, educators and government on a common agenda for change. The plan is based on the findings of a major research report carried out with Gartner, IT Insights: Skills Gap Analysis - Wales.

Welsh Language Scheme

e-skills have a Welsh Language Scheme and are working to support the Welsh Language in Wales, within our means and remit. You can download the scheme in the medium of English and Welsh - please see below:
