IT User Skills Framework Review
We are in the early stages of an extensive review of the IT User Skills Framework and welcome your feedback. Introduced in March 2003, the Framework is intended to identify and articulate the skills required by non-IT professionals to use computer hardware, software and electronic communications effectively at home, school or work. The framework supports much of the IT User Skills programme of work of e-skills UK, and also underpins the e-skills Passport, making continual improvement essential in order to maintain its cutting edge status, usability and credibility.
The review of the framework will:
- Identify any gaps in the framework and ensure that all skills appear at similar levels to those in the National Occupational Standards, accredited in April 2004;
- Ensure the skills contained within the framework are still those demanded by employers and that there are sufficient examples of these skills;
- Ensure the skills reflect development in the existence and use of technology.
You can contribute to the review online at www.e-skills.com/frameworkreview. If you have any questions or comments please contact Ian Thomas on 0207 963 8928 or ian.thomas@e-skills.com. By January 2005. there will be a draft v2.0 of the framework available online for further feedback and comments.
