e-skills UK event brings Government, industry and education together
Nearly 100 employers and senior academics came together at an event this week to discuss the impact of the changing global environment on the skills of IT professionals and the implications for curriculum development in Higher Education.
David Lammy, Minister of State for Higher Education, opened the 'Industry Insights' event organised by e-skills UK, outlining the importance of the IT sector to the economy, both current and future, and the critical role of Higher Education in developing talent.
Karen Price, CEO of e-skills UK said:
"This event provided the opportunity for powerful dialogue on issues that really matter to the IT sector. We were delighted to have so many employers and academics involved; collectively, we can make a very significant contribution to the development of the technology skills the UK needs to compete in the global economy."
'Industry Insights' was one of a series of events that form part of the e-skills UK Revitalise IT project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. Revitalise IT is aimed at revitalising students interest in IT-related education and careers.
