CC4G - Computer Clubs for Girls
Transforming the attitude of a generation of girls to IT
e-skills UK's Computer Clubs for Girls (CC4G) is changing the way girls think about technology and IT careers. This award-winning initiative, which is already benefiting more than 120,000 girls in over 3,450 schools, captures students' imagination at an age when girls typically become disinterested in IT. CC4G are now involved with over 58% of all state funded secondary schools and 17% of all state funded primary schools.
CC4G is full of fun activities and gets girls involved with technology in ways that are of interest to them - for example through music, fashion, celebrity and design.
The clubs are targeted at 10 to 14 year old girls and are run voluntarily by schools as an out-of-hours activity. An increasing number of employers are encouraging their staff to become involved with local CC4G clubs.
By 2008, CC4G will have benefited up to 150,000 girls in 3,600 schools.
