The e-skills Professional Placement helps employers, students and universities
Increasing numbers of students are skipping industrial placements. At the same time, employers say many new graduates lack essential business, interpersonal and communication skills.
The e-skills Professional Placement (formerly known as Internship) aims to reverse these trends by offering an industry-backed placement programme that maximises benefits for employers, students and universities.
What sets the e-skills Professional Placement scheme apart?
We offer a number of benefits over standard industrial IT placements:
- clear roles and expectations: responsibilities are defined for employers, universities and students. Expectations for student achievement are made clear from the start.
- support and guidance to ensure high-quality placements: we provide a full set of resources, including development targets for students, best practice guidelines and case study examples.
- help with building skills: monthly work summaries help students and line managers record progress. They also help students focus on building the skills that employers are looking for.
- easy skill tracking: the online e-skills UK community allows students, managers and university tutors to report and monitor progress with a minimum of fuss
- national recognition: as a UK-wide scheme, students know future employers will recognise the value of their achievement. Smaller employers also benefit, since running a national programme helps them attract the best students.
