The brand new BigAmbition Scotland IT careers website was launched at www.bigambitionscotland.com by e-skills UK on 30th November. The launch event, hosted by Microsoft, was attended by employers featured on the website, and prospective computer science students from North Berwick High School.
Designed to inspire young people in Scotland about the exciting and rewarding careers technology offers, BigAmbition Scotland is the result of a collaboration between e-skills UK and major Scottish employers, including Oracle, Logica, Iomart and the Scottish Government.
The website features video interviews with IT professionals in a range of roles, as well as company profiles, games, competitions and quizzes, all designed to show young people the many exciting career options technology has to offer in Scotland.

Speaking at the event Brendan Dick, Director BT Scotland, said:
"We’re delighted to support the launch of BigAmbition Scotland. IT is not just a sector, it’s an enabler. IT underpins every business and sector in Scotland and it needs people with knowledge and understanding of IT.
"BigAmbition Scotland showcases just what you can achieve through a career in technology and will help inspire a new generation of Scottish technologists and business leaders."
Michael Kowbel, e-skills UK’s Director for Scotland, said:
"Over the next five years we need over 400,000 new IT professionals to meet the demand of Scottish businesses. However the number of young people choosing to study IT related courses has declined by 13% over the last 5 years.
"The launch today of BigAmbition Scotland is just the first stage in the development of a fantastic resource to give young people in Scotland the inspiration and ambition to pursue the fantastic career opportunities IT can offer."
