We, at e-skills UK, are seeking a business writer to be responsible for the written communications across e-skills UK’s portfolio of programmes. This is a full-time permanent position, based at our London office in Victoria. A competitive package is available. Application deadline is Tuesday, 7th February 2012.
As business writer for e-skills UK, your words will inspire businesses to support our work, motivate IT professionals to invest in skills, and stimulate educators to offer industry-backed initiatives to young people. They will drive up awareness of the importance of e-skills UK’s work amongst business leaders, policy makers and academics. They will help the UK develop the IT skills it needs for global competitiveness in an e-enabled world.
You will be responsible for defining core themes and writing communications across our portfolio from primary schools to universities and a wide range of technology employers. This will include writing quotes, collateral, thought-pieces, e-mails, messaging for websites and talking points for speeches.
As part of the Communications team, you will report to our Head of Communications and Insight and will work closely with project leaders, employers, web editors, other members of the Communications team, and our CEO. You will have a close relationship with our content developers and those creating external copy for social media and online newsletters, and you will also work directly with our Customer team, who are responsible for direct sales and channels to market.
The successful applicant will be educated to a degree level or equivalent, and have a proven track record of business writing, focussing on making the complex accessible. S/he will have demonstrable experience of writing for business people in a variety of formats, and will have excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines. S/he will be able to work well in a cross functional, multidisciplinary environment. The role requires an articulate, self-motivated individual with excellent written and oral communication skills. Enthusiasm and a pro-active, ‘can do’ attitude are essential.
Experience of working within the IT or education sectors and a commercial background in online products and services are desirable for this role.
