Contributing qualifications

Which qualifications can be included within ITQ?

e-skills UK is responsible for the list of units and qualifications that can contribute towards ITQ.

Candidates can use accredited units and qualifications, as well as non-accredited units and employer training schemes, such as the:

  • QCF ITQ trials (between Sept 07 and Aug 09)
  • ITQ 2003
  • Functional Skills ICT, ICT Skills for Life, Essential Skills Wales ICT and Essential Skills Northern Ireland ICT
  • Legacy units from VQs or VRQs on the National Qualifications Framework
  • Vendor units and qualifications
  • Employer Training Schemes

To see how the old units map to the new, download the Summary of contributing qualifications XLS 78KB

Awarding organisations are responsible for mapping qualifications they would like to appear on this list against the NOS for IT Users.

Contributing units and qualifications must have been completed within 3 years of ITQ registration. Completed units from the old NVQ for IT Users (ITQ) can still be used towards the ITQ, but no new registrations are being accepted for these units. Centres must ensure that a representative sample of certificated skills and knowledge are still current.

For more information on contributing qualifications and requirements for assessment, see the ITQ Assessment Strategy PDF 159KB
