Programme to help more people get online

Free and easy-to-access, the Online basics course is getting people who have never been online surfing and using the web.
And, with the optional Online basics Entry Level 3 Award, learners can prove to potential employers they have the IT skills they need.
The course is a collaboration between e-skills UK, and partners including the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and UK Online.
What kind of impact has Online basics had? 
The pilot programme got excellent feedback.
Almost everyone felt they improved their skills and confidence levels.
Over half of participants recommended Online basics to someone else.
Unemployed learners showed promising signs of using their new IT user skills to find work, and nearly 75% felt more confident at getting a job.
40% of the people who completed Online basics went on to some form of further learning.
